Re.Memory presents two internationally renowned artists who explore technology in their work; Refik Anadol with “Melting Memories” and Sougwen Chung with “Drawing Operations”. Both artists have received numerous awards, including 2019 Lumen Prize Awards, for their work in the intersection of art and technology. For the first time, they are exhibiting together, at Norway’s Sørlandets Kunstmuseum.
Melting Memories – Refik Anadol
In “Melting Memories”, various people’s long-term memories form the building blocks of the visual structure. Over an life-sized LED wall we get to experience Anadol’s aesthetic interpretations of old memories, which through artificial intelligence and visualization take the form of a living substance in constant motion.
Drawing Operations – Sougwen Chung
In “Drawing Operations”, Sougwen Chung draws side by side with the robot, where drawings from her artwork are stored in memory. With the help of artificial intelligence, the robot cooperates with her, based on her own movements. The result is the blurring of the line between human and machine.
For the very first time Sougwen performed using telepresence technology.
